CLUSTERFUTURE

What is CLUSTERFUTURE? Is it you? Is it me? Has it always been here, or did it come to us, perhaps to save us from ourselves, perhaps to borrow something for the weekend such as a leaf blower? CLUSTERFUTURE now seems inseprable from our lives. When we drive our cars, when we open our fridges, when we meet our parole officers for drinks and dancing, CLUSTERFUTURE is always with us.

CLUSTERFUTURE has our best interests in mind, our hopes on its shoulders. CLUSTERFUTURE has four listeners.

The Bell Jar / 25 October 2009

Sunday's show was the usual explosion of musical empowerment that you should expect from us hipsters at the Bell Jar; here we go with the playlist...

01. "Wishbone" by Architecture in Helsinki
02. "Artichokes" by Maps and Atlases
03. "Been True" by Tom Brosseau
04. "Boots and Birds" by Gregory and the Hawk
05. "The Dog Song" by Nellie McKay
06. "You Belong to Me" by Carla Bruni
07. "Does This Mean You're Moving On" by The Airborne Toxic Event
08. "Hot Air Balloon" by Owl City
09. "If You Want to Sing Out, Sing Out" by Cat Stevens
10. "Fast Car" by Tracy Chapman
11. "Tears Dry On Their Own" by Amy Winehouse
12. "The Angels Hung Around" by Rilo Kiley

As always, the show was sporadically broken up by witty banter between Rebecca and myself. Highlights included a debate about leggings as pants (I think they're fug, Rebecca actually wears them), some more clothing dissections (Uggs are gross), Rebecca not talking about her awesome weekend, a useless discussion on presenting musical facts, and of course, the ultimate conversation killer, the weather. Rebecca graced the air waves with another poetic recitation and I just generally talked a lot. Who needs writing when I can be so charmingly extemporaneous?

Tune in on 1 November for our next foray into the land of 1930's home entertainment. It's Rebecca's week, so expect a lot of griping from me and a lot of smug giggles from our representative of the fairer sex. Special guests are Rebecca's parents who will attempt to audibly murder me with a Beatles tribute. Keep me in your prayers.

The Bell Jar / 11 October 2009

So, I thought I'd post a quick recap of tonight's show; playlists, talking points, insults, etc. So, here we go...

01. "Us" by Regina Spektor
02. "Silver Lining" by Rilo Kiley
03. "Merry Happy" by Kate Nash
04. "Keep Breathing" by Ingrid Michaelson
05. "You Don't Know Me" by Ben Folds (Featuring Regina Spektor)
06. "Skinny Love" by Bon Iver
07. "Me and Julio Down by the Schoolyard" by Paul Simon
08. "Big Yellow Taxi" by Joni Mitchell
09. "Five Years Time" by Noah and the Whale
10. "Heavy Cross" by The Gossip
11. "Peace Train" by Cat Stevens
12. "Wannabe" by The Spice Girls

For readings tonight, Rebecca read her poem "Across the Universe" and I read a prose-y vignette that I call "The Hourglass." Both of these were read at the Meet The Editors event for the SLC Review on Friday. Sorry we're so boring.

As for discussion points, apart from our usual banter, I tried to engage Rebecca into a discussion about how she hates how there are no boys on campus and she went into complete denial mode which made me look like a prize idiot. She followed this up by airing out my potentially transferring, so any quipping potential was quickly killed stone dead.

Any requests? Reminder that our show will not be happening next week, but everyone should still tune in.
